The radio seems to perform well in this frequency range, although no measurements have been made with test equipment. While the advertised frequency range of the VX-180U(D) is 450-485 MHz, the author has found that the radio will accept programming of amateur frequencies in the 70cm band right out of the box, without any modifications.
